Quick and easy morning rituals
I don't know about you guys but for me how I start the day can really set me up for success. Simple and easy steps to add (to I'm sure your already busy day) can help you feel awake, present and ready to start the day π
1. Make your bed.
Making your bed first thing makes you feel accomplished and less cluttered. It's also thought to improve your sleep quality and who can't get enough of that?! π
2. Let the sun in.
Open the curtains and let the sunshine in π exposure to early morning sun is an mood booster. It helps your body produce serotonin and creates a clear and awake mind.
3. Enjoy your coffee.
Savour that first drink. Your body can get dehydrated over night so you drink try drinking a big glass of water but I get it sometimes you just want coffee (Me!) Or a warm tea. Drink what makes you happy and take your time, sit and sip and don't do anything else. You may be tempted to look at your phone but just take me talk notes on how you feel while your drinking and practice gratitude for this time.
4. Move your body.
Get moving!! Moving our bodies can help reduce stress. A quick small dance around the lounge room, stretch or yoga pose can set you up for a more active day.
5. Get dressed.
Get yourself ready, even if your at home all day. This will instantly increase your self-esteem. Taking care of yourself helps give you the energy to take care of others. Plus you're more likely to go out for that spare of the moment coffee date with a friend if you're already ready.
6. Plan your day.
Write down your to do list on paper. Seeing everything you need to accomplish for the day clears it from your mind. It helps to check things off once they are done to give yourself a feeling of accomplishment.
And... Smile!! Even if you're in a rush, you've been woken up 100 times by a baby, you fell out of bed, you ran out of coffee or it's rainy. Just smile. Every moment of the day is a new one and a chance to start fresh πβ¨
